SAYLOR DNA PROJECT
|
PRIMARY BACKGROUND
I found the published works of Richard Warren Davis
and Samuel J. Saylor during a 2005 visit to the Goshen College Library in
Goshen, Indiana. These “new” sources of information are very interesting. The
descendants of Ulrich Seiler, *(1142), and Joseph Seiler, *(1141), are very well
documented and the possibility of a connection is suggested by Richard Warren
Davis.

THE CHALLENGE!
Are these families related? The paper trail is very old and needs another
source to confirm or dispute connections. Therefore, I started a
SAYLOR DNA PROJECT at
FamilyTreeDNA.
I'm
seeking initial Y-DNA12 tests from SAYLOR, SAYLER and SEILER males with well documented ancestry.
WHY DNA?
I think Ugo A. Perego, Senior Project Administer with the Sorenson Molecular
Genealogy Foundation (SMGF), said it best1:
"Because of the inheritance properties of
DNA, we are literally a walking, breathing, living record of our family
history. You can change, destroy, or hide records proving relationships
between individuals, but you cannot change the genetic makeup we have
inherited from our biological ancestors."
WHAT IS REQUIRED?
Testing is simple – requiring only a cotton swab of saliva from the mouth.
Because the Y-chromosome DNA is passed from father to son virtually unchanged
for hundreds of generations, the testing will focus on males with the SAYLOR/SAYLER/SEILER
surname. Interested females are not excluded; but, must have a brother, father
or male cousin submit a test.
